As an African woman, my continent and my country are my priorities. Every day I work for a common good: creation of value and development in Africa. I believe that we are the engine of change and that we will make our land a good destiny to live, work and see our children grow up.
At the AfricaTech event, as part of AfricaCom 2019, which took place from 12 to 14 November in Cape Town, South Africa, I asked: “Can we have an e-commerce platform in Africa that competes with the world’s largest e-commerce platforms? My vision is positive. I do believe so.
We are an investment group. We have invested in many fields, so we have over 30000 employees. So, we are a very large company. And one of our latest investments is a state-of-the-art technology company, which is a brewery in Africa, in Angola.
For the last 20 years, China’s growing economy has been one of the key driving forces and anchors of growth of the world economy. At China International Import Expo 2019, in Shangai, China, I stated that thanks to its “One belt, one Road” strategy, China’s vision is now making sure that global growth, will in turn contribute to consolidating China’s economic strength in the long run.
As an African woman, it was a great pleasure to be back in Cape Verde and see its evolution. In the context of the Conference “Cape Verde: Challenges of the Future”, promoted by the Portuguese National News Agency Lusa on October 11, 2019, in Praia, Cape Verde, I shared my vision as an African businesswoman for the future of Cape Verde and Africa.
A vast continent with huge potential and hard-working people who love their land… everything is in place for Africa to take the leap and become a robust economy. What needs to be done to make this happen?
I was privileged to meet a group of young students at the University of Warwick who were truly passionate by the idea of development on the African continent. Together we shared our concerns and dreams, but most of all the commitment to ensure Africa fulfils its full potential.
To create a business is to generate value and, with that, to build a better world. Each time we set up a well-structured project that generates positive results we are moving the world one step further along, and all our lives with it. I believe that Africa will be the next great stage of business development. It could not be any other way.
This is the question: how does this all this happening here makes a difference in our everyday lives? I think there were a lot of great contributions that came through. A very strong one was the issue of policy: can we have policy alignment?
