Who will be the next African champion?
I participated in the AfricaCom, in Cape Town, South Africa, as a speaker on the panel “Using emerging technologies to support a vibrant and secure digital economy”, at what is the most important technology and telecommunications event in Africa. This is my vision: an inclusive, technologically advanced and prepared for the future Africa that provides its citizens and businesses with the tools they need to grow.
I believe that in the next 10 years we will have large African companies that will position themselves in the digital economy and in e-commerce. Technology has a multiplier effect and we, Unitel, are part of this transformative change.
It was also an honour for me to be part of a panel made up of women only: Terryanne Chebet, general manager of Metropol TV Kenya; Carole Wamuyu Wainaina, COO of Africa50; Juliet Ehimuan, country director of Google Nigeria; and Charlene Verzmoter, head of Philanthropy of Microsoft. It is a sign of the evolution of times and of the role women are playing in Africa. It is an inspiration and a pride to see women’s leadership. My dream is to see that leadership multiply across the continent and around the world.
